I turn data into

Maria Namitha Nelson  ·  AI & Full-Stack Developer  ·  Barrie, ON

Dean's List AI grad, former full-stack developer, and someone who genuinely enjoys the moment a dataset tells you something unexpected. I've built production apps, trained neural networks, and analysed thousands of customer records — and yes, I also crochet. Turns out pattern recognition works everywhere.

About Me

A bit about who I am

I started out as a full-stack developer at Myrsa Technology Solutions in India — Angular, Node.js, the whole deal. Then I made the leap to Canada and decided to go all-in on AI at Georgian College, where I graduated from the Dean's List. It's been quite the ride.

What I love most is when a project doesn't go the way you expected. Like when I built a water-use dashboard and the data flat-out refused to confirm the obvious hypothesis. That kind of thing keeps me curious.

Right now I'm freelancing in web development while looking for a full-time role where I can combine my data skills with building something people actually use. If that sounds like your team, let's talk.

Some of my projects in AI

🚀
Reinforcement Learning PyTorch
Teaching a Rocket to Land — Actor-Critic RL
I trained an agent from scratch to solve LunarLander-v3 using Actor-Critic. It went from crashing every time (−1,293 reward) to consistently sticking the landing (+187 average). The learning curve chart is genuinely satisfying to look at.

SSRS Power BI SQL
Michigan Water & Population — the data surprised us
We thought population drives water use. Turns out electric power generation does. Always let the data speak first.
🧠
NLP Python AI Strategy
Is Your Company Actually AI-Ready?
A tool that scores company readiness for AI adoption across data maturity, infrastructure, talent, and governance.
📊
Neural Networks Python EDA
Who's About to Leave? Telco Churn Analysis
"EDA + two neural network models (NN and CNN) on 7,000+ telecom customers. CNN hit 79.49% accuracy. Key finding: new customers paying the most are the highest churn risk."
📊
Paper Reproduction NLP Embeddings
Reproducing MTEB — Text Embedding Benchmark
Implemented the Massive Text Embedding Benchmark on Banking77 classification. ~67% accuracy with a word-averaging model, plus an original visualisation contribution.
👁️
Computer Vision OpenCV YOLOv5
Corners, Features & Objects — CV from Scratch
Harris, SIFT, ORB, and YOLO on a Rubik's Cube and COCO dataset. YOLO hit 0.93 confidence on its best detection.
